Membership Information

Membership Types and Requirements

Type A Membership

Students in this category do not have scheduling conflicts and are able to attend our meetings.  To meet the requirements for type A membership, a member must:
  • Attend at least 4 weekly meetings.  This includes officer elections day, which is a mandatory meeting for all members.
  • Attend 1 event of your choice - either social, fundraising, community service, or professional event.

Type B Membership

Students in this category are unable to attend our weekly meetings because of their class schedule.  To qualify under this type of membership, a student must attend at least 3 activities of any of the following:
  • Social events
  • Community service events
  • Fundraising events
  • Professional events

Distinguished Members

We strive to promote leadership, participation and academic excellence.  At the end of each quarter we recognize members of AS for their outstanding achievements.

Loyal Member

To be eligible, a member has to attend:
  • All 8 weekly meetings held during the quarter
  • 1 social event*
  • 1 community service event*
  • Awards Banquet (during fall and spring quarters)
  • Meet the Firms (during fall quarter)
*Involvement in more of those events will only strengthen one's candidacy and eventually distinguish the chosen member.

The winning member will be chosen by the current cabinet on the basis of his/her participation and will be notified over mail during the first week of the following quarter.  Officers are not eligible.

Lead Contributor

To be eligible during a given quarter, a member must:
  • Hold an officer position or lead a committee as a coordinator
  • Excel and bring innovative ideas within the designated position
  • Participate in the development of the society outside of the designated position
  • Make a large contribution towards the improvement of the society
The most contributing member will be chosen by an anonymous voting procedure at the last officer meeting during the given quarter.  He/she will be notified over mail by a formal letter during the first week of the following quarter.
