Introductions:
• Stand when
- Elder or Senior enters
room
- Customer or client
enters room
• Introduce yourself to individuals on either side of
you at the table
Conversations:
• Appropriate Topics
- The company
- The position you are
interviewing for
- Words to use: who,
what, where, when, why
• Inappropriate Topics
- Politics, religion,
personal and controversial topics
Napkins:
• Place napkin on lap after
everyone at your table has been
seated
• When leaving the table place napkin on seat
• When meal is complete, place napkin on table to the
right side of your plate
Ordering:
• Do not order the most expensive
item on the menu
• Do not order more than two courses
• Do not order wine or any alcoholic beverages
• Do not order difficult or messy to eat food
Dining:
• Wait to eat until all
individuals have been served unless
invited to eat
• Eat at the pace of others at your table
• Sit on the first 3/4 of your chair.
• Do not bend over your plate to meet your utensil
• Pass salad dressing to the right with the handle
pointing toward the recipient
• Spilled food is to be picked up with a piece of your
silverware and placed on the side of
your plate
Final
Thoughts:
• Send a Thank You note to the
host if you were a guest. This is a
great way to start a business
relationship or follow-up on any
business discussed
