Cedars Sinai

This Wednesday, AS will be welcoming a speaker from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's internal auditing department. Cedars Sinai is the largest nonprofit hospital in the western United States. Since 1990, Cedars-Sinai has been named consecutively in an independent survey by the National Research Corporation (NRC) as Southern California's "gold" standard in healthcare.

Resume Development Workshop

On Wednesday, February 8th, AS will be hosting a resume development workshop during our regular weekly meeting hours. If you are looking for a job or internship soon, or have not updated your resume for awhile, then do not miss this meeting! Come and meet with professionals who will critique your resume, provide feedback and offer invaluable interview advice.
 
**If you are going to participate, please bring 3-5 resumes.

As one of the "Big Four" firms in the country, KPMG provides audit, tax and advisory services and industry insight to help organizations negotiate risks and perform in the dynamic and challenging environments in which they do business. This is a great opportunity for our members to ask questions and network.

Winter 2012 Orientation

Join us for our Winter 2012 Orientation meeting. Find out what Accounting Society has to offer this quarter, meet officers, network with fellow students and prepare for an exciting and successful quarter.
 
During the Fall 2011 quarter, AS had a Mock Interview session, a Business Club Mixer with ALPFA, BAP and other student organizations, weekly meetings with professional organizations like the IRS, Dreamworks, SCE and much more. This quarter AS will be hosting many different kinds of events (both social and community service), and will continue to have professional organizations at our weekly meetings.
 
Please come and join us for a great time to start off the new quarter!

Final meeting: Election Time!

Join us for our final meeting of Fall Quarter 2011. We will be having officer elections and paid members will have the opportunity to vote for the Winter - Spring 2012 executive board.

Members who have satisfactorily met membership requirements will receive a certificate. In addition, for those individuals with outstanding attendance will have the opportunity to win a prize.

Ascend Holiday Dinner

The Ascend Holiday Dinner is on December 5th. Last year, there were more than 150 professionals, which means that this is the perfect networking event for everyone!     - 3:30 PM for Mentoring Session (Inspiring Across Generations Mentoring Session)
    - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM for Main Program
Cost: $20 per person


Student Volunteers ($20 waived):

Need student volunteers, for 1-2 hours shift, during the following times.
    3:00 – 4:30: Volunteer for the mentoring sessions
    5:00 – 6:30: Volunteer for the main program check-in and others
    6:30 - 8:00: 1-2 student volunteers needed
    8:00 - 9:00: Volunteer for clean up


The tasks are:
- Check people in
- Greet people and direct them in
- Clean up crew
- Others that may come up

Becker CPA Exam Review

This Wednesday, we are welcoming representatives from Becker CPA Review as well as Dr. Kathryn Hansen, Accounting Department Chair. Dr. Hansen will be coming to speak to AS about the upcoming changes to the 2014 CPA requirements. If you are planning to become a CPA, do not miss this great opportunity to learn more and ask questions about the current requirements and the upcoming changes to the requirements to taking a CPA exam.
